Urban Couture 2014

UrbanCouture

Part of the City of Joondalup festival, Urban Couture supports the local Western Australian Fashion Industry by running free public events each year showcasing their work. It's always a fantastic opportunity to see the up-and-coming designers and creatives who are sure to make it big in years to come.

Urban Couture 2014 was another great year! The events certainly did not disappoint. The pop-up runway at Sorrento Beach featuring Urban Couture ambassador Samantha Harris had the most gorgeous sunset setting, fashion illustrator Mekel's WANDERLUST exhibition was too lovely to leave without buying an original and although the closing day on Sunday had some weather complications, the show went on.

The Polytechnic West fashion students, San Cora and Seeprinci Designs began the closing day events with a mixture of couture and ready-to-wear pieces. The closing show featured futuristic style garments by Citizens of Arcane, Megisabella, Morgan Davies and G by Georgia Victoria. Touching on minimalistic silhouettes and lines, the show contrasted the colourful Joondalup festival we were surrounded by.

I love being involved in local events such as Urban Couture and supporting creatives in the fashion industry. Kelly Price, the founder of Coveted Events, who organises Urban Couture did a fabulous job as always. Congratulations to Kelly, her team and everybody who made Urban Couture 2014 a success.
