Own Your Look With Marks and Spencer

The most important thing about personal style is ‘owning your look’. Trends don't suit everyone allowing one to easily fall into the trap of ‘clothes wearing the wearer’.

I was searching for a pair of wide leg culottes on Marks and Spencer's Australian website and came across a gorgeous navy pair with a flattering cut (similar here). I also picked up a textured ivory tee (here and here in navy) to wear with the pants. When the parcel arrived in the post a few days later I tried on the culottes to find the cropped length was in fact full length against my leg (I'm 5'3") but surprisingly they still looked great. The 5’9” M&S model on the website wore them beautifully cropped but what did it matter, I loved how they looked on me.

As a trial, I pinned them up to the mid-calf cropped length they were designed to be but it didn't suit my stature. So I decided to leave them full length and own the look. They are now one of my favourite pairs of wide leg pants, comfortable and well-designed and at a very affordable price tag.

So the moral of this shopping story? Don't let clothes dictate how you wear them. Wear and style them however you feel looks good even though it seems to break the rules.
