The House of Dior: Seventy Years of Haute Couture is the best fashion exhibition I have ever been to. Yes, a big statement but it is true.

Walking around the exhibition at National Gallery of Victoria was like a dream. I felt excited, emotional, overwhelmed and in awe seeing these iconic designs from designers Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferré, John Galliano, Raf Simons and Maria Grazia Chiuri.

The House of Dior has influenced how we all dress today. Timeless, sophisticated and classic, Christian Dior's iconic spring 1947 New Look feminine silhouette is still the elegant shape we look to seventy years later.

I grew up flipping through Vogue seeing Galliano's theatrical pieces on the runway. I watched Raf in the film Dior and I adding his unique flair to the label. Now, I am watching Maria Grazia Chiuri, Dior's first female head designer, make her mark. Today, the garments are on our doorstep and we have the opportunity to see them in the flesh. It is very special.

It is also very special for Melbourne as it's the first complete Dior collection to be showing outside of Paris. Exhibitions like this solidify Melbourne as a fashion capital. That makes me pretty proud.

Make sure you visit the exhibition while it's on for another few weeks. Take a look below for the extended opening hours.
