It’s the time of year that we have all saved our pennies for -- Black Friday sales. In my opinion Black Friday is timed perfectly just before Christmas when you get wrap up your shopping with time to spare.

As much as I am thinking about what to buy others when the sale comes around, I cannot help purchasing for myself if there is something(s) I have had on my shopping list for a while.

Shopbop’s Black Friday sale is one of the best sales around due to their selection of styles, brands and excellent offers. This year is no better. Scroll down to find out more about the sale and my top picks.

When I shop for myself, I don’t always shop seasonally. What I mean by that is that if I have something written down on my list, I might not find what I’m looking for/be able to afford the piece until the season has come and gone.

For example, a chunky I Love Mr Mittens knitted sweater is on my wish list and although we are about to enter summer, I saw that it is included in the Shopbop Black Friday sale so I am thinking about purchasing it. This is a responsible purchase in my opinion as I know I will be wearing it for winters to come. It also does not bother me that I have to wait another six months to wear it.

What’s my advice on how to shop the sale? Don’t go crazy on what’s cheapest, craziest or what you want today. Instead have a good think about what you are lacking in your wardrobe and what will you wear for seasons to come.

How to shop sale effectively:

I select my favourite designers in Shopbop and add them to My Designers and that way when I don't want to scroll through all items on the website, it saves me time by narrowing down only to the designers I love.

A pretty floaty summer dress from Sea or Ulla Johnson
A pair of over-the-knee boots from Stuart Weitzman if you're size 9 and over. I'm after a heeled black pair but the sale styles are sold out in my size
