Goodbye 2016, Welcome 2017
And just like that we're striding into 2017...
People talk about 2016 as being a tough year, and although it was in many ways, I wouldn't wish it away. It's been challenging, with many highs and lows. We've learnt a lot. 2016 has certainly been a memorable one.
Personally it's been a year full of wonderful events and positivity. I got married, moved back to Melbourne to be closer to family and rediscovered my city. I'm continually motivated by the blog which I am thankful for and I had the most amazing honeymoon road trip across the U.S.A. I've listed my top 2016 memories below. Scroll down to read more...
2016 Memories
My wedding...was in February this year. It was one of the best days of my life, marrying my best friend surrounded by family and our closest friends was an amazing feeling. Our wedding was featured on Ivory Tribe.
Bill Cunningham....the legendary New York street-style photographer passed away this year. Being photographed by him was an honour. This was my ode to him.
My favourite outfits of 2016 were...
- Dress Like A New Yorker
- Vintage Valentino Jacket
- The Art of Transeasonal Dressing
- Denim Game Strong
- Jumpsuit
- Spring Race Day Style
I loved writing and shooting...Magic of Collaboration, featuring the collaboration between jewellery label Au Revoir Les Filles, photographer Grace Petrou and make-up artist Emily Moran.
Viktor & Rolf's exhibition at NGV blew me away.
I still follow...the same skin routine using La Clinica. I try different products for the blog but I continue to go back to La Clinica, their products are excellent.
I learnt so much...speaking to Michael Albert owner of Smart Alec Hatters on Gertrude Street, Fitzroy. Take a read if you want to know about reshaping, travelling with hats, bringing worn ones new life and storing them.
Favourite Film of 2016...La La Land. Perhaps because I just watched it and am singing along to the soundtrack as I write this post.
Favourite interview....was with floral photographer Ashley Woodson Bailey from Texas.
You said you loved...The Benefits of Keeping a Journal.
Our honeymoon road tripping across the U.S.A. was one of the best experiences. We drove from L.A. to New York City via Texas, Louisiana, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, D.C., Maine, Rhode Island. See a few of the travel guides below, more guides still to come...
A little guilty pleasure of mine is reading Susan Miller's horoscopes. It began while I was living in New York and every now and then I go and check what's in store for the month. Sometimes when I feel something's off I have a read. Mr CK, my better half, is an Aquarius like me however he has a scientific background so thinks astrology's baloney. I think it's a bit of fun and more often than not rather insightful.
I'm looking forward to 2017 for what it will bring, Susan says it'll be a great year. It marks new beginnings and exciting new opportunities and possibilities. It's going to be an positive and productive one, I can feel it!
Happy new year to each and every one of you,
Lei xx
So excited to finally share our wedding photos with you.
