Audrey Hepburn's 85th Birthday

Today Audrey Kathleen Hepburn-Ruston would have turned 85. She passed away 21 years ago, on January 20, 1993 at 8pm, at the young age of 63 from a rare type of cancer. Audrey is the feature on Google Doodles today in honour of her life. Here is more from the artist who created Audrey's Doodles.

Wanderlust | Mekel

Mekel's WANDERLUST exhibition ran as part of Urban Couture 2014. Local fashion illustrator Kelly Coates' work always transports me to a world of fashion, flowing gowns and beautiful girls. Her dreamy use of the black pen and splash of watercolour is perfect. I now own two pieces from Mekel. A framed original of J.Mendel lime green couture gown from this exhibition which was a lovely belated birthday gift from Mr CK and a limited edition print from Mekel's Perth Fashion Festival exhibition last year.

Valentino Spring 2014 Couture

Valentino's Spring 2014 Couture show has to be one of my favourites of the season. A mix of ethereal ballgowns, delicate lace sheaths, tulle ballerina swan dresses and bold jungle themed motifs, each garment was a masterpiece in its own right. Inspired by the opera, Valentino's creative directors Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli created a wonderfully inspiring collection with pieces that every women would feel like a star in.

Modern Love: Fashion Visionaries from the FIDM Museum LA

A selection of the world's most influential designers from the past 40 year drawn on archival fashion objects from the FIDM Museum in Los Angeles. Focusing on the post-punk period of the 1980s to the present day, the exhibit reflects fashion in our contemporary lives with works ranging from Alexander McQueen haute couture through to t-shirts and Adidas high-top runners.

My Ode to Kit Willow

This is my ode to Kit Willow, fashion pioneer, former creative director, designer and founder of the Willow label.

In November 2013, Ms Willow was coldly dismissed from the label she launched a decade ago. In September 2011, Apparel Group, which also own Sportscraft and Saba, acquired a majority shareholding in the Willow business and appointed Ms Willow creative director. Now, several years later, the company abruptly terminated Ms Willow's employment as creative director at Willow.
